        Admission & Registration Requirements for Special Admission Students


                                                       IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

  • ALL SPECIAL ADMISSION students must be present to register.
  • ALL SPECIAL ADMISSION students must show a valid photo ID card at registration.
  • ALL SPECIAL ADMISSION students may register in a maximum of 6.0 units per semester.
  • ALL SPECIAL ADMISSION students must submit a Memorandum of Understanding signed by the student and a parent. The Memorandum of Understanding provides supplemental information regarding the admission of minors to the Ventura County Community Colleges. The Memorandum is included in each Special Admission Packet, available at the Ventura College Admissions Office or from the high school.
  • HOME-SCHOOLED students must present the completed Private School Affidavit.  For more information, visit http://www.cde.ca.gov/sp/ps

                                                    ADMISSION INSTRUCTIONS

FIRST TIME SPECIAL ADMISSION students must apply for college admission. Apply at venturacollege.edu/apply . The application for admission must be submitted and accepted before the student is allowed to register.  Students will receive an acceptance email. Students do not need to file a new application each semester.

  • FIRST TIME SPECIAL ADMISSION students must submit a signed Memorandum of Understanding before being allowed to register. Required of first time students, not required every semester.

  • ALL SPECIAL ADMISSION students must submit a Recommendation for Special Admission Form  signed by the student's school principal or designee, the student, and a parent. Required for every semester of attendance as a special admission student. 

  • ALL SPECIAL ADMISSION students must submit an unofficial copy of the student's most recent school transcript.  K-8 students must also provide a letter from their principal to support that they are identified as gifted and talented, or are otherwise able to benefit from advanced scholastic or vocational education. Required for every semester of attendance as a special admission student.

                                                       REGISTRATION INSTRUCTIONS

GRADES 11 & 12

  • Refer to the calendar for registration dates and times.

  • Must have the Ventura College Prerequisite Approval Form signed by a Ventura College counselor for any course requiring an enforced prerequisite and/or must complete the appropriate assessment tests and achieve scores that meet prerequisite requirements.

  • May register in any open class or waitlist in any closed class as long as the combined unit total does not exceed 6.0 units. 

GRADES 10 & BELOW

  • May register on the first day of the semester.

  • Must attend the first meeting of the class for which they plan to enroll to obtain instructor approval/signature on the "Instructor Authorization to Admit a Special Admission Student - 10th grade & below"form.  If the class is closed, student must also obtain an add authorization code from the instructor.

  • Must have the Ventura College Prerequisite Approval Form signed by a Ventura College counselor for any course requiring an enforced prerequisite and/or must complete the appropriate assessment tests and achieve scores that meet prerequisite requirements.

  • May register in a maximum of 6.0 units.
