The Journalism program provides foundational training to students interested in working in journalism and/or other related communications fields such as public relations. In addition, courses in the program provide students with an understanding of the mass media and how those mass media affect their lives. The program currently consists of two classes: Mass Communication, and Writing for the Media A & B. Students in the writing class submit stories for the district-wide Student Voice newspaper and online versions, and complete a videocast that is broadcast on CAPS public access television. When fully active, the program offers an AA degree path and a Certificate of Completion path.
