Who can attend?
Faculty (full time and part time) from Ventura, Oxnard or Moorpark College.
Past SITE participants are encouraged to attend for a 2nd, 3rd or even 4th time for this last year of SITE.
Join us for an experiential week of workshops that will inspire you to facilitate effective change in teaching and community! SITE 3.0 Workshop Content: We will be explore current movements in education including service learning, learning communities, experiential learning, learning spaces, educational technology, and motivational interviewing. New technology will be used at every opportunity.
We will meet at Ventura College every day of SITE
Off Site field trips options will include:
- A trip to Moorpark College (Zoo)
- Camarillo (Service Learning)
- Oxnard (Marine Center)
- Ventura ( downtown/ Museum)
Participant Commitment for grant eligibility:
Participants attending all 30 hours from Ventura College and Oxnard College will have the chance to use $1,000 of the grant money for either conference travel AND/OR to implement their BIG IDEA over the next year. (We are pleased to invite Moorpark College to attend and apologize for the fact that grant funds are limited to Ventura and Oxnard Colleges. We sincerely hope future grants will include all three colleges.) So long as the funds can be shown to help students, faculty participants are free to use the money on student field trips, classroom technology, professional development, and more. These funds can be used for travel to a professional conference or for use in a mini grant focused on student success goals or new classroom techniques.
- Establish a more effective partnership between instructional faculty and student support services to increase student success
- Implement on-going classroom assessment techniques to monitor student progress in the classroom
- Apply brain compatible teaching strategies that make it possible for every student to experience engaging, empowering, and successful learning
- Implement effective teaching and learning strategies that support all students, including those with differing learning styles and learning disabilities
- Develop effective and up-to-date computer skills and technical support systems to improve both online and on-ground classes
- Develop transformational leadership techniques to support student achievement
